In Hungary there are many thermal baths. The warm mineral water, very beneficial for the body, comes up from the ground at a high temperature. Traditionally, these springs were used outdoors for bathing, and their healing effects were noticed.
During the Turkish occupation (16th/17th centuries) baths were built around these springs and a bath culture developed, including wellness treatments such as massages. It was only later that extensive medical research was conducted on the water and the benefits of the thermal baths were scientifically proven.
The thermal baths in our area range from simple to very extensive. Most baths also offer sauna facilities, but be aware: Hungarians only use these with swimwear!
In the summer, there are plenty of play areas for children and lots of food stalls available. The thermal baths are then turned into more of an aquapark…
Prices are generally very affordable, even for families, and the opening hours are generous.
