Digital nomads and workaway in Hungary

I invite you to connect with this place, with me, with others, with nature and with yourself…

Volunteer stay

Would you like to stay at the Oázis Tanya for free and are you willing to help me a few hours a day/week in exchange? I can host volunteers during the whole year.

All kind of skills are welcome, if we can make a nice exchange that makes us both happy, I AM ALL IN !

Accommodation for workawayers

You’ll get a nice comfortable caravan or furnished tent for yourself or together with a friend/partner if you travel together. A spacious camping pitch for your own campervan or tent is also a possibility. You use the camping facilities such as toilets and showers.

Outside of the camping season, during the colder months, the guesthouse with your own bathroom is available. Well behaved pets are welcome too.

How it works

Volunteering and workaway in Hungary

In exchange for free accommodation, you help me for a few hours a day – this depends on what kind of work we agree upon, but approximately 12 hours a week I would say on an average. Sometimes on a daily basis, other work can be done according to your own preferences. Ofcourse free days can be planned regularly.

The rest of the time you are free to do what you want and you can enjoy everything the site and the surrounding area has to offer.

Having your own transport is very practical, although there are also options with public transport. I can pick you up from the nearest train station and doing groceries together in the nearest town is possible.

You take care of your own food and drinks, although sometimes I can provide some basics! From mid May till mid August my dear friends Rachel and Hanna will be running the kitchen at Oázis Tanya and it will be possible to enjoy their delicious cooking for a special team price.

A handy(wo)man would also be nice to work out some of my ideas and do all kinds of common jobs – April or September/October is the best time for this.

What’s important

Stays should be a minimum of 2 weeks, but longer stays are more than welcome!

I am looking for enthusiastic, cheerful and pleasant people who enjoy, together with me, giving our guests a good time, who are open to new experiences and encounters and who want to contribute to making the campsite an even more beautiful and sustainable place.

Also it is important that you can be on yourself, and like nature, silence, quiet time.

Good to know:

Languages

I speak Dutch, English, ein bisschen Deutsch and un tout petit peu Francais. I am learning Hungarian. It’s essential that you at least speak English!

How to apply

Feel free to take send me a message. an tell me something about yourself and how you would like to contribute. Then we’ll see what’s possible! A video call is always part of the process to find out if we’re a good match.

Workaway host

Oázis Tanya is also listed on www.workaway.info, a world wide community for host and volunteers.

Remote work, vanlife and digital nomad in Hungary

How the idea was born

When my son and his wife stayed here some weeks in spring 2024, they both were working remotely and in the same time immensely enjoying their free time being outside in nature and helping me with cutting and pruning trees, making fire wood, opening up the pool after winter, walking the dog and more of the ‘simple life’ things-to-do around here.

After that, another friend was appealed to this idea and planned a ‘workation’ at my place.

Thus the plan was born to host more digital nomads and remote workers.

On the photo you see Eva & Fabio, who built this website in exchange for free accommodation. Such a creative co-creation!

digital nomads hungary

In general, I meet more and more people who choose to live as a digital nomad, temporarily or more permanent. They work remote and can live or travel where ever they want as long as they have an internet connection.

Remote workers who stay at the camping often gather at the big table, do their own thing while also having inspiring meet-ups with others and making new connections.

Outside of the camping season you will have the place practically for yourself and it will often feel (besides from the work that needs to be done 😉) as a personal retreat…

Choose your stay:

Guest or part-of-the-team?

There is the ‘normal’ possibility to stay as a (paying) guest, do your remote work, and just enjoy your free time with everything this place has to offer.

For those who like to share some of their time and skills and like to save some money on accommodation, I am open to all kind of nice and mutual benefitting exchanges.

Depending on the duration of the stay, the time of the year and the match between what is needed and offered, I am sure we can work something out, from staying completely free (see the volunteer part above) to a special price for your stay, in one of my accommodations or on a camping pitch for your own vehicle.

In all of this cases it is important that we feel the connection – that is why we will always do a video call in advance!

Wifi connection

Oázis Tanya has a pretty good working wifi (based on the 4G network which we receive with an antenna). Ofcourse you can bring your own connection when you want to be absolutely sure.

I am also open to

Hosting motorhomes/campervans for longer periods

You can rent an accommodation or camping pitch for a very friendly monthly rent instead of a price per night, when you can commit yourself to treat the place like it’s yours
and help me just a little bit to keep an eye on everything to keep the place neat and tidy for other guests.

Note: outside the camping season (October 15 – April 15) I can only host self sufficient campers, but I can offer electricity and drinking water.
And an amazing quiet place to be, sharing the terrain with the passing deer, roes and hares.
