The Hungarian culture has enriched many languages with words like puszta, paprika and goulash, but it takes a visit to this extraordinary country to learn the true meaning of those words.

Round trip East- and Southeast Hungary including Budapest

Discover the versatile and undiscovered Hungary, where you can forget the hectic everyday life. You will travel past two accomodations of Dutch owners and will make a 2 day journey to experience the magic of Budapest. Peace, space, a warm personal welcome and culinary enjoyment are of paramount importance. The lodgings are situated in gorgeous nature reserves, where you can bike or walk. Many cultural outings are a possibility too!

Day 1-4
The journey begins in the lands of the Tisza, a protected water and nature reserve that is accessible without many restrictions.
You will stay with Hellen and George Streur in one of the charming holiday homes located in their small, but spacious, holiday park Puszta Eldorado. The surroundings hold an abundance of walking and biking possibilities. Go for a nice drive through the countryside or a boat trip on Lake Tisza. Enjoy one of the many beaches or be active with a sailboat, surfing board or parasailing. This and more is all for rent. After your activities the pool can provide some much needed refreshment and you can enjoy a nice drink and/or authentic Hungarian bite on our terrasse while using our free WiFi!

Day 4 – 5
You leave for Budapest by train. At your own accord you are free to explore the city. Budapest, also known as “The Queen of the Danube”, is the capitol of Hungary. It is a mesmerizing city with an abundance of monumental buildings, impressive squares, beautiful parks and fascinating museums. This city is famous for it’s bathhouses. But there is much more to see and experience in Budapest. There are many traditional coffee houses, where not only the coffee is delicious but also the pastry! U will stay one night in a beautifully situated hotel in the centre of Budapest. At the end of day 5 you return back to Puszta Eldorado.

Day 6-7
Back in Puszta Eldorado to enjoy Lake Tisza for another couple of days.

Day 8-14
You leave for Southern Hungary (105 miles). Here you will find Oázis Tanya, idyllically situated in a nature reserve adjacent to the puszta. It is here that Alies Verlind and Mark Jansen  bought the picturesque camp site Oázis Tanya in 2021. You will stay in a comfortably decorated apartment. Best part of the camping is it’s welcoming atmosphere. Walking a route, swimming or just lounging in a hammock, it’s up to you. In the Tanya (farmhouse from 1830) you can enjoy authentic Hungarian meals, made with local products by Tineke. On one of the days we will take you on a Puszta Safari, on which a meeting with a doe, hares and many bird species like a Bee eater and European Roller aren’t a rarity. To cut it short, a lovely place for a bit of adventure and a lot of rest.

Naturally this round trip can be adapted to your own wishes. The order of the route is on basis of availability. The transport to Hungary for your own cost, if you decide to come by plane we advice a rental car, but we can help you with all of that!
