Bugac Puszta
At Bugac, about half an hour drive from the camping, there is a spectacular horse show at 12pm every Wednesday, Friday and during weekends from 1st of May until the end of September. Guest can buy tickets at the information window near the entrance to the Karikás Csárda. Suggested arrival time between 10:30 and 11:15am.
Please check the Bugac Puszta website for actual times and dates!!
The show place can be reached either on foot or by carriages, which leave from the Karikás Csárda. We recommend the carriage ride. During the 1,5km ride you will see the endless Hungarian Puszta open in front of our eyes, with its unique flora and fauna. You will also see the traditional pastoral structures (reed huts, a milk processing cottage) and visitors can experience the unique atmosphere of Bugac.
Ther is a stop at the round shaped Shepherd Museum which is located near the hundred year old oak trees. In the Museum you can see the exhibition of Bugac pastoral life, everyday equipment used by the shepherds, and also the various wildlife of the National Park.
From the museum a short walk leads to the stables. This is the living place of the yellow Bugac stud. Here the visitors can experience the indigenous Hungarian animals: mangalica pig, the grey cattle and racka sheep. Along the way, visitors can see the black puli-haired dogs and the donkeys grazing peacefully. This is also where the show will start. After the show the carriages will take you back to Karikás Csárda, where you can enjoy a nice lunch if you would like.
